Geo-Tek IT Solutions: launching a print store in Cyprus

Geo-Tek IT Solutions, an IT company in Cyprus, bought the Netbase online design tool and had the Printshop template installed by the delivery team. Its customers can either upload finished artwork or design in the browser. Geo-Tek has reported four results for the first period after launch, and they are that company's own figures.

Context

An IT company moving into print commerce has the operational side already and needs the storefront. The question at that point is not whether to build a design tool from scratch but how quickly a working store can be standing, and whether it can serve two different customers at once: the one arriving with a finished file and the one who wants to make something in the browser.

What was delivered

  • the Netbase online design tool, licensed and set up for the store;
  • the Printshop template, installed by the delivery team rather than left to the client;
  • two customer routes, artwork upload and upload-and-design, both live on the same catalogue.

Installing the template rather than shipping it is the part that shortens a launch. The store opens configured, and the client's first job is merchandising rather than setup.

Results Geo-Tek reported after launch

One company, one store, one launch. These figures describe that launch and nothing more general:

  • revenue up 36% in the first quarter after launch;
  • engagement up 35%, with no period recorded for this value in the source;
  • repeat transactions up 24%, with no period recorded in the source;
  • order processing down 30%, with no period recorded in the source.

Evidence and limitations

  • Netbase's own materials give engagement twice, as 42% in the body of the case and 35% in the results graphic. The lower value is published here, under the register's standing rule that the lower figure wins a conflict. The 42% figure is not used anywhere on this site.
  • The revenue figure keeps the period its source states, the first quarter after launch. It has not been annualised, and no period has been attached to the three figures that lack one.
  • Netbase supplied and installed the store software. The trading results are Geo-Tek's, produced by Geo-Tek's catalogue, marketing and customers.
  • No screenshots of the store are published. The image on this page is illustrative and shows no interface.
  • How every figure on this site is sourced and reviewed is set out on the methodology page.

Questions buyers ask

Is a launch like this a custom build? Not entirely. This record is a licensed design tool plus a template installed and configured by the delivery team, which is a faster and narrower engagement than a bespoke storefront.

Why publish 35% when another Netbase page said 42%? Because the two disagree and the register requires the lower figure. Publishing the higher one would mean choosing the flattering number over the careful one.

Can our customers both upload and design? That is what was delivered here: the two routes run side by side on the same catalogue.
